Night Hawk

Night Hawk artwork

Story

The Common Nighthawk isn't actually a hawk—it's a member of the nightjar family.

My wife and I first encountered them shortly after buying our property. One warm evening we were sitting outside when we heard an unusual booming sound overhead. Looking up, we watched nighthawks diving through the air above us. As they pulled out of their dives, the rushing air over their wings created a deep, booming sound.

That unforgettable experience inspired the name Booming Ridge Studio. Every time I hear a nighthawk overhead, I'm reminded of the evening that gave both our home and my studio their name.
